The Roots

This photo of the tree was taken from the stream bed when I was standing where the tree should eventually fall. It shows the effects that erosion has already had. Many large roots of the tree are alreay exposed.

As this process continues the stream will undermine the support for roots of the tree and it will lean evermore into the stream. For now at least the roots of the tree are at least partially holding the soil beneath them slowing the process.

There are various other tree laying in the stream bed that demonstrate the natural consequences of the forces of nature at work along a meandering stream.
